It’s the classic New Year phrase. I can’t help but cringe. Although, it is true for all us who dare to dream and set ourselves goals for the year ahead. We want change.
So, welcome 2017 & hello resolutions. Last year, James & I set resolutions for each other. It was quite fun actually. I passed my resolutions for the first time ever and James failed his. This, according to the terms of our agreement, meant that I was treated to a day at a spa. Delightful.
James taught me one thing from his resolutions. He can make attainable resolutions – clearly I cannot. According to his philosophy, the idea is to make smaller achievable resolutions that impact your life on a weekly basis and serve one or two goals.
For 2017, my resolution is to look after myself better. By this I mean (a) I need to get my dodgy knee fixed; (b) I need to get fit (again), tone up by exercising three times a week and (c) I need to get my glow back.
Another form of motivation for achievement is sharing my resolution here, so I’ll keep you updated on my progress. Here goes.
In an effort to refresh my skin after a bitterly cold trip back home in London, I purchased a few goodies at Boots and Space NK for my skin and body to be used regularly to help get back that glow. I thought I might share a few of these with you. Today, I tried the Garnier Skin Active Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask (currently only 99p at Boots). Tissue Masks are du jour. This was the first time I tried one at home but it is something my facialist has used on my skin for years.
Then I applied the mask – feeling a little like Darth Vader – left it on for 15 mins before peeling it off to find my face all soft and gooey. I gently rubbed in some of the left over serum into my skin using a cotton pad *as recommended on the package* and removed any excess.
I’d really recommend the mask if your skin is a little dehydrated, dry and dull after a week of battling the cold weather or after a bit of overindulgence. I needed the mask for both of those reasons. As I write this, my skin feels smoother & rehydrated. A much need refreshment after Christmas and New Year festivities.
At least, I can check off making one small effort towards my New Year’s resolution today – and if nothing else, hopefully I’ve given you a little laugh with my silly mask photos.
