Aszú, Budapest

For our last night in Budapest we wanted to try something a little swanky and picked Aszú on the recommendation of the concierge at the Boscolo Hotel.

We were welcomed by the beautiful art decor inspired interior of the restaurant and thoroughly entertained by the traditional Hungarian house band – we even bought their album.

This restaurant though is worth the recommendation, not because of its stunning interior or the amusing live music but because of the food – after all, isn’t that the point. We weren’t just impressed, we were delighted. The freshness, the flavours – exquisite.

The Starters

Lamb in a pea voulote;

Almond seasoned cauliflower velouté, breaded pike-perch cheeks, crumbled cauliflower, cocoa; and

Whipped goat cheese, lavender apricot, chard leaves.

The Main Dishes



Aszú ox goulash, tripe, potatoes, summer vegetables, marinated string beans (Goulash – with a modern twist)

The Deserts

Isn’t it all just fabulous.
