Hotel Schweizerhof Sport und Beautyhotel, Kitzbühel Austria

It was the perfect end of season escape, a resort and hotel we already knew and an unbeliveable last minute deal – how could we resist

In truth, Kitzbuhel is not the most affordable of resorts, but we knew what we were getting for our money, quality on and off piste

No matter where you go, the weather is hardly ever guaranteed, especially late in the season. The first time we visited Kitzbuhel, there was snow for days with little spells of sunshine, we couldn’t complain as the off piste was unbelievable

This year we had a total mix of weather, sweaty days basking in the sunshine and avoiding the slushy afternoons mixed in amongst days spent navigating snowy storms and limited visibility

This year, we returned to the Hotel Schweizerhof Sport und Beautyhotel, that we first visited in 2013 when James was living in Austria, because of its ski-in ski-out location and fantastic spa facilities

At the end of our ski day, James & I would spend our afternoons soaking in the spa, starting in the swimming pool, moving through their steams and saunas, and finally falling asleep in the relaxation room with a good book

Once we were suitably relaxed, we’d generally saunter back to our suite (we were very lucky to be upgraded) to get ready for dinner

The rest of our evening would be spent fully gorging ourselves on a five course meal – all included – paired with some of our favourite Austrian wines (Blaufränkisch wines are our favourite) before bringing out the Monopoly Deal (if you know, you know and if you don’t, order online now)

Most importantly, skiing offers the perfect opportunity to escape physically and mentally.  Whilst pumping your body down the slopes, you concentrate on your every move, your next turn and having a good time, forgetting the day-to-day stresses of your life

With that, we took every moment to have fun, together, on the slopes, because there is no place we’d rather be
